ASSIGNMENT: as part of a 'virtual team' of experts from the head office and businesses, providing recommendations for managing the group's capital; sponsored by the Group Financial Controller
ASSOCIATE PROVIDED: Senior Analyst
DETAILS: the Associate gained agreement for an implementation plan that introduced differentiated BU cost of capital targets, refocused the organisation on the attainment of shareholder value, and reconfigured the group's capital strategy
CLIENT: a leading high street bank
ASSIGNMENT: defining and establishing a project to ensure the implementation of the International Accounting Standards (IAS), mandatory for listed companies in the EU from 1st January 2005
ASSOCIATE PROVIDED: IAS Implementation Project Manager
DETAILS: this project involved preparing briefings for senior managers, establishing project governance structures, assessing the business impacts of IAS, estimating project resourcing requirements, developing a high-level project plan, and identifying overlaps and dependencies with other programmes such as Basel II; the bank's accounts will now be presented in line with IAS
CLIENT: a major high street bank
ASSIGNMENT: mapping mission critical processes and assessing operational risk using Enterprise Modeller (the bank's strategic business process tool); reporting to the Head of Governance and Control for a Group HR Function
ASSOCIATE PROVIDED: Operational Risk Manager
DETAILS: this was part of a group-wide initiative to improve process control for mission critical business processes in line with regulatory requirements; wider aspects of the role include assisting the Head of Governance and Control in implementing all operational risk initiatives within Group HR, including the Group Operational Risk Framework
