CLIENT: major high street bank
ASSIGNMENT: finance change programme across all group businesses
ASSOCIATE PROVIDED: Programme Director
DETAILS: reporting to the bank's Chief Accountant and Group Finance Director, this Associate led the finance change programme across all group business and at group level, aimed at ensuring improved performance while reducing headcount and costs. Key activities included: developing the 'vision' for finance; developing the model to deliver this (against a backdrop of SAP implementation and the set-up of a shared service centre) including activity analysis of 'as is' processes, delineation of responsibilities, a common look and feel for management accounts and improved budgeting/forecasting; people development against required competencies; review of finance performance including development of a balanced scorecard; specific projects to support local finance teams; external validation; and stakeholder management/communications.

CLIENT: major banking group
ASSIGNMENT: Economic Transfer Arrangements (ETAs) with large internal service providers
ASSOCIATE PROVIDED: Project Manager
DETAILS: this Associate provided support in various areas: strategic planning for the service and demand management of the bank's ETAs; budgeting in medium-term planning as support for demand forecasting; cost management - monthly monitoring of revised annual forecast/projected full year volume and cost run rates, including variance analysis on actual charges billed v budget v with trend commentary and spend profile; reconciliation of budget, charges, rebates, adjustments and transfers - between operations-business and IT, and between the bank's and suppliers' books; demand challenge - identification, analysis and qualification of consumption-based cost-saving and cost-avoidance opportunities, and ETA cost reduction opportunities; understanding suppliers' cost base and the cost models driving the bank's tariffs and cost allocation bases; preparing presentations for executives in the service management, finance, operational and strategic business units; and liaising with service managers, supply managers, group sourcing function and third party suppliers.
CLIENT: major credit card provider
ASSIGNMENT: new debt recovery facility
ASSOCIATE PROVIDED: Project Manager
DETAILS: this Associate facilitated the user definition and planning stages for an unsecured debt recovery facility on behalf of a large bank. Key responsibilities included: planning and running off-site facilitated workshops, including teamwork, for the definition of the status quo; assessing the benefits and risks of the required facility; and the planning of potential implementation options.
