CLIENT: multinational utility and services company
ASSIGNMENT: business preparation/strategic change management for a large-scale SAP implementation
ASSOCIATE PROVIDED: Business Preparation Manager
DETAILS: this Associate ensured business preparation and sustainable change management for a wide-ranging ERP software implementation that impacted on 6,000 staff and on HR, finance and procurement processes across 40 sites. Specific roles and activities covered four main areas: Training - needs analysis, course design, ‘train the trainer’, pilots, evaluation and course redesign, version control in line with system configuration/change, scheduling and attendance metrics, and relationship with security through role mapping; Communication – PR and commitment management, from general awareness of key stakeholders/'super' users and end users through understanding and buy-in to full commitment and advocacy; Organisation Impact Management - process definition, impact assessment and activity management to both mitigate and leverage impacts; and Business Preparation – forming, coaching and motivating business-based implementation teams, ensuring full business participation through testing, training design and delivery, communications, audit and reconciliation, leading to storm preparation/management and the post go-live transition to ‘business as usual’. This Associate was also involved in: workstream (project) management and benefits tracking, which included performance management of both the client and its strategic consultancy partner; and chairing/managing weekly project and business surgeries to increase learning and provide tangible value across the full project scope.
CLIENT: large utility company
ASSIGNMENT: support for outsourcing agreements covering IT, support and maintenance
ASSOCIATE PROVIDED: Project Manager
DETAILS: this Associate advised on major outsourcing agreements for IT application development, support and maintenance, worth £40m per annum. Activities included: guidance on requirements to comply with OJEC procedures; content and structure of ITT; evaluation and selection of suppliers; formulation of terms and conditions for final contracts; and taking a lead role in negotiations with world class suppliers. This was followed by: reviewing and advising on the project management methodology to be adopted after outsourcing; and providing advice and practical support for commercial and contractual arrangements in a major OJEC outsourcing procurement exercise, worth £100m over five years, to select a partner for IT services including hardware, end-user support, network management, voice and data telecommunications, and data centre management.
